Satin ribbon is a favorite material for bows – smooth, shiny, and available in dozens of colors. You can use it to decorate a gift, a dress, a box, or a hairstyle. Here are three ways to make a bow.
What ribbon to choose
- 0.6–1 cm – small bows for cards, jewelry, and children's clothing;
- 1.5–2.5 cm – gifts, dresses, hair;
- 4–7 cm – large decorative bows, boxes, holiday decorations.

Method 1: Classic bow (like tying shoelaces)
- Make two identical "loops" with the ribbon.
- Cross them over and tie them like shoelaces.
- Adjust the loops and ends.
Method 2: Fork bow (for small sizes)
- Weave a narrow ribbon through the tines of a fork – front, back, and front again.
- Pass the end through the middle between the tines and tighten.
- Remove from the fork and shape.
